Looking for new things to do for Spring Break? There are some great free and cheap Spring kids' classes and workshops happening at some local stores. From crafts to cooking to computer coding, there is something for everyone! Spaces in these tend to go fast and some you can register in advance so be sure to reserve your spot if you want to join in the fun.

Spring Fishing Classic at Bass Pro

Learn all you need to know about fishing at Bass Pro in Opry Mills. Try to catch a fish in the catch and release pond, get a free fishing patch (for the first 50 kids), create a free craft, and attend a kids' fishing class at 2:30 PM on Saturday, March 4.  (FREE)

March 4 & 5, Noon to 5 PM both days

Spring Make Camp at Michaels stores

Create a different daily craft for a week each with a different focus. Monday – Ink, Tuesday – Model Magic, Wednesday – Alphabet, Thursday – Kraft Paper Products, Friday – Embellish. Each craft is $2, and will be offered during the local school district's spring break. Here is the schedule for the stores in Middle Tennessee:

100 Oaks Mall – March 20 – 24th from 10 AM to 11:30 AM, pre-register to guarantee a spot HERE

Hendersonville – March 20 – 24th from 10 AM to 11:30 AM, pre-register to guarantee a spot HERE

LEGO Store Building Events

Become a LEGO VIP for free and then register and attend free model builds at the LEGO store in Opry Mills that you get to take home. These always fill up fast and you must reserve your spot in advance.

March 4 & 11 – Build Belle's castle from Disney's Beauty and the Beast and take your creation home (FREE – register in store in advance)

March 7 & 8 – Join in the fun at the monthly model build and create a LEGO platypus (FREE – register online HERE)

March 12 – 17 – Drop in before 1 PM and do some building with DUPLOs and then take a small set home (FREE – limited quantity available, while supplies last)

March 18 & 25 – LEGO Life meeting – meet other kids that are playing the online game LEGO Life and do some building ($10 – register in store in advance)

Junior Chef Classes at Williams Sonoma

Register in advance at either the Cools Springs or Green Hills store. All classes are suitable for 8 to 13 year olds.

March 4, 10 AM – Make Bread Pudding and Banana-Oat Chocolate Chip Cookies in this Beauty and the Beast themed class.

March 11, 10 AM – Make and decorate Easter Cookies.

April 8, 10 AM – Bake cupcakes for an American Girl Easter Cupcake Party ($30, includes a cupcake set)

Home Depot Kids Workshops

Join in the next monthly kids' build at your local Home Depot. Be sure to register in advance!

March 4, 9 AM – Noon – Build a rain gauge and decorate it! Click here to register at your local store.

April 1, 9 AM to Noon – Build a bunny basket just in time for Easter. Click here to register at your local store.

YouthSparks Classes at the Microsoft Store

Learn to code, create digital art and more at the Microsoft Store in The Mall at Green Hills. There are free workshops and classes throughout March all for FREE!

March 12, 12:30 PM – Create Digital Art with Fresh Paint, 3:30 PM – Join in for some Minecraft gaming on the Xbox!

March 13, 10:30 AM – Hour of Code exploring Minecraft

March 14, 10:30 AM – Create Digital Art with Fresh Paint

March 15, 10:30 AM – Learn to Code with Kodu, 6 PM – Create Digital Art with Fresh Paint

March 16, 10:30 AM – Build worlds and moving characters with Kodu

March 17, 10:30 AM – Code and Create with COllage Me, 6 PM – Friday night Halo Tournament
