It’s the season for some scary fun. Here’s a list of Ghost Tours offered in our area this year. Some of these tours are heavy on history. Some focus on entertaining the participants. Not all of these tours are family friendly so contact the tour directly if you have any questions regarding whether it is age appropriate for your child. I have a child who is scared of EVERYTHING so we don’t do ghost or haunted related events as a family. But your family may be full of brave thrill seekers. If so, consider a ghost tour as part of your Halloween family fun.

Nashville Ghost Tours   (Map)

Three tours available.

Haunted Downtown Nashville Tour

This tour involves storytelling that might be frightening to a child.  There are no things or people that will jump out or intentionally try to scare you on the tour. So, depending on your child’s comfort level with the notion of something being’haunted’, this could be a family friendly option.

Haunted Franklin Tour   (Map)

The family-friendly Haunted Franklin tour explores the ghosts and haunts that linger on the brick-lined streets and historic dwellings in charming Franklin, Tennessee. Departed socialites, a Civil War spy, failed businessmen, Confederate soldiers, and at least one dog roam downtown, and we spend an intriguing hour and a half with them. One is helpful, several appear lonely, and one seems to be afraid of the dark. We’ll visit 4-5 locations on our leisurely walk through Franklin. Bring your camera: you never know what you may catch. And we’ll show you the photos that other visitors have taken on our tours.

Cost: $20 adults  $10 teens  $5 children. This tour covers about six city blocks.  Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather.  Most of this tour is wheelchair accessible.

The Haunted Franklin tour is offered almost every evening at 7:00 p.m., weather permitting. Please call 615-400-3808 to make your reservation.

The Haunted Franklin tour meets at 305 Public Square, which is in front of the old courthouse on the public square at Main Street and 3rd Avenue, next to Mellow Mushroom. Please plan to arrive ten minutes before the start of your tour time.

Grave Matters Tour – Franklin  (Map)  October 27, 2018

Once a year, costumed reenactors portray some of the cemeteries’ most interesting people. Join us on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 7:00-9:00pm for a walk through history. We also offer guided tours Thursday evenings at 5:00pm.

Either way, you’ll meet the Carter father and son whose home is the epicenter of the Battle of Franklin. You’ll be introduced to the little-known but still fascinating two Georges, Grummond and Cuppett, who fought on opposite sides of the War, and are remembered for different reasons. Brave teenager Fannie Courtney, a Union sympathizer who tended to the Union wounded at First Presbyterian Church will tell her story (you won’t believe the rest of it). Not all the stories are Civil War-related. You won’t want to miss the grave of Anarchy Cowles, a freed slave, or the marker of the two infant Marr sisters, whose short, tragic lives are commemorated by a broken shaft. Not to be missed is the grave of the Unknown Civil War soldier whose remains were uncovered at a Franklin construction site in 2009 and later reinterred at Rest Haven.
