In March a shorebird known as the American Woodcock returns to its spring nesting area and our cedar glades are perfect habitat.  The males perform a spectacular mating dance at sunset  when the conditions are right and hopefully we’ll get a chance to see it tonight. 

The one-mile trail is relativley flat with areas  of poor drainage after rain or snow and a few areas of loose fist-sized gravel. We will not hike the entire trail and trail conditions will be updated here. Program duration: 30 minutes

Meet staff in the parking lot off of South Mt. Juliet Rd see link above.  Couchville Cedar Glade is locked at sunset.  Do not enter without permission.  Please be on time for this program as the birds are on a strict time frame for their ritual which does not last longer than 20 minutes.
