Archaeology Day at Travellers Rest
September 18, 2021 @ 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM$10 – $15
This September, in recognition of Tennessee’s Archaeology Awareness Month, we are providing an opportunity for guests to participate in a mock excavation using items from our surface collection on two scheduled Archaeology Days. Participants will also get to learn how to properly clean found artifacts. Additionally, our staff will showcase rarely displayed items from our prehistoric collection before guests get to create their own gorget to take home.
Archaeology Day will be September 18 for the public, but we will have a special Archaeology day on September 20 for home school groups. The entire program will last approximately 2 hours, and we welcome you to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds before or after the program.
The program will follow a small group station structure to ensure guest safety and instruction at each station. If you would like to go through the program with a particular group of people, we recommend arriving together.
Pricing: $15- adults (over 13), $10- children (5 – 13), family tickets (2 adults + up to 3 children) $40; Educator and Archaeology professional price – $12 per adult, Children 5 and under – FREE
