Rutherford County’s 1st African American school is celebrating Juneteenth, also known as Juneteenth Independence Day or Freedom Day. This American holiday commemorates the June 19, 1865, announcement of the abolition of slavery in the U.S. state of Texas, and more generally the emancipation of enslaved African Americans throughout the former Confederate States of America. Bring your family and friends and join the community for this annual event. There will be games and activities for the kids, food vendors, art vendors, and live music for the entire family.
