Take your family on an undersea adventure with a visit to the Aquarium Restaurant. The dining area is surrounded by saltwater aquariums that house fish, sharks and more! In addition to the fish, you can see the Mystic Mermaids, who perform several times a month. Save some money by joining the Landry’s Select Club. It is $25 to enroll, but you automatically get a $25 welcome reward applied to your account that you can spend on your next visit. Bavarian Bierhaus

Closest Mall Entrance: 4 and 5, you can enter the Bavarian Bierhaus directly from the parking lot

My kids are not adventurous eaters, so a German restaurant was a little out of the their comfort zone. However, once my almost vegetarian daughter saw the pretzels she immediately became a BIG fan! I visited recently with a friend who spent four years in Germany. She said the food is authentic, and the restaurant feels just like a traditional German beer garden. The kids menu includes grilled cheese, chicken tenders and mini-burgers for those that have picky eaters like me.

There is live polka music nightly, and you can check out Bavarian Bierhaus’ Facebook page to find out who is playing. The restaurant will be celebrating Oktoberfest between September 29th and October 29th, perfect for a Fall Break visit.

Dave and Buster’s

Johnny Rockets

Closest Mall Entrance:  Entry 1 between Chuy’s and H&M

Johnny Rockets is located at the intersection of the two main hallways in the Mall. You can sit inside the restaurant or choose a “patio” table. Both are great for people watching. We ordered onion rings based on a suggestion from our server and they did not disappoint. You can’t go wrong with a milkshake either.

Join the Rocket E-Club and get a free burger when you sign up and another for your birthday.

Mission BBQ

Closest Mall Entrance: Near Entry 1, Enter the restaurant from the parking lot, Mission BBQ is not accessible from inside the Mall.

Mission BBQ opened on September 11, 2011, and is a tribute to the Military, Police, Firefighters and other first responders.  The walls are covered with pictures, tributes and stories. If you go for lunch, aim to be there at noon. Every day, the staff stop what they are doing and come out into the restaurant and everyone sings the national anthem.

There is an array of traditional bottled drinks to complement your meal available in a cooler as you walk through the line. The food is served on butcher paper and there are six sauces to choose from on the table. We split a three-meat market sampler with the traditional sausage, brisket, and pulled pork. It came with a slice of sweet cornbread and we added a side of fresh cut fries. Depending on how much your family eats, I think you could do a couple of samplers and then add a few sides and have plenty to share.

I’m a Texas transplant and the brisket tastes like home to me. My family tried all the sauces and my favorite was the Memphis Belle. The sausage had flavor but was mild enough for the kids to enjoy. If you have food allergies or need to avoid gluten, Mission BBQ provides information online so you can see what your options are.

Be sure to join Mission BBQ’s Veterans VIP Club for special discounts if you served in the military.

Rainforest Cafe

Closest Mall Entrance: Entry 3

The Rainforest Cafe is more than just a place to eat; it is an immersive experience complete with sounds and light shows. Dine under the canopy of the Rainforest during a thunderstorm. My kids LOVE this place now, but when my daughter was small, she was afraid of the noise. If you have a child that is sensitive to loud noise or storms, you may want to wait until he or she is older to visit. Walk around after your meal and see all the animatronic animals including elephants, tigers and gorillas.

Visit on Wednesday nights from 5 PM to close and get a kids’ meal for a discount with the purchase of an adult entree (kids must be 10 years old or younger to qualify). Use the Opry Mills Mall Savings Passport to get a free chef’s appetizer of the Day with the purchase of an adult entree. You can also enroll in the Landry’s Select Club to earn points for rewards.

IT’SUGAR

Closest Mall Entrance: Entry 1 near H&M, once inside, walk toward Johnny Rockets and then turn left down the hallway opposite the entrance you came in.

It’Sugar is a traditional candy store with a twist. In addition to a large assortment of candy by the pound, you can find giant versions of your favorite candies and other novelties. We found a giant Chupa Chups lollipop that was almost as big as my daughter’s head. My husband was happy to find there is a section of candy from the United Kingdom including Jelly Babies, one of his childhood favorites. I am a big fan of Jelly Belly jelly beans and there was an entire wall display with at least 20 different varieties.

Gigi’s Cupcakes

Gigi’s Cupcakes was founded in Nashville and can now be found in 23 states. The kiosk in Opry Mills Mall serves Gigi’s full menu including 30 varieties each week. There are always three different gluten-free options available. The fall menu offers apple pie, and Kentucky bourbon as well as classics like birthday surprise.

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory

Closest Mall Entrance: Entry 3 near the Rainforest Cafe

Founded in Durango, Colorado, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory serves freshly made confectionary treats. Fudge is made fresh daily and is available in a variety of flavors. There are traditional chocolate candies and more modern treats such as chocolate dipped Twinkies. My favorite, by far, are the caramel and chocolate dipped apples. Fresh granny smith apples are dipped in a thick layer of candy creating a contrast of sour and sweet. Ask your server to cut your apple for you to make it easier to eat and share.

Woops! Macarons and Cookies

Closest Mall Entrance: Entry 2

Woops! serves fresh Parisian macarons; small round cakes with a meringue-like consistency that sandwich a creamy filling. The beautiful, colorful cookies taste as good as they look! There are 19 flavors available ranging from traditional vanilla to peanut butter and jelly to rose, and they are all gluten free.

  1. We went into It’s Sugar. Im not in anyway a conservative, but edible panties and explicit socks with Mother F**ker written on them, at a child’s eye height, probably isn’t for every parent. Then again, some parents maybe don’t mind their child enjoying their coffee in a “Wake and Bake” coffee/weed pipe… also available. Just a heads up.
