Pick Your Own Berries, Fruits and Veggies in Nashville and Middle TN

There are lots of “Pick Your Own” opportunities all over the Nashville area to get your little farmers out to harvest. From apples to zucchini it’s all available right here in the Nashville Metro area.

Tennessee Growing Seasons

Local farms offer all different kinds of fruits and vegetables throughout the spring and summer. Starting in mid April (depending on the weather and how harsh a winter we experienced), strawberries are typically the first fruit to be ripe for picking. The season lasts until the start of June.

Blueberries and blackberries ripen about the same time toward the end of June and beginning of July. Blueberry season is shorter with berries typically available through August. Blackberries can sometimes be found through September.

Peaches may be available as early as mid June, but they are always ripe by the beginning of July. The peach season is normally over by the middle to the end of August.

The apple season is always surprising to families that moved from the north. Apples can be found as early as June, but are typically available starting in August and September. There are a few varieties that ripen in October, but the majority of the area’s orchards are closed before Halloween.

How to Use This List of Local Farms

We’ve tried to make our list as user friendly as possible. Every farm on the list is a “pick your own farm.” There are several farms that offer picked fresh fruits that you can purchase without going out in the fields, and each is noted in the farm’s full description.

If you are looking to pick a certain type of fruit or vegetable, reference the lists below to find local farmers that have the crop that you want.

At the bottom of the article are the full details for each farm including what crops are available, the location, contact information, and how to find out what is ripe. For your convenience, the farms are listed alphabetically and separated by county.

If you want to skip the crop lists and see what farm is open nearest to you, click here to jump down to the full list of farms.
