Nashville Area Free and Cheap Spring Kids’ Classes

Looking for new things to do for Spring Break? There are some great free and cheap Spring kids’ classes and workshops happening at some local stores. From crafts to cooking to computer coding, there is something for everyone! Spaces in these tend to go fast and some you can register in advance so be sure to reserve your spot if you want to join in the fun.

Spring Make Camp at Michaels stores

Create a different daily craft for a week each with a different focus. Each craft is free (with the exception of the projects on Saturday, March 9), and will be offered during the local school district’s spring break. Here is the schedule for the stores in Middle Tennessee:

  • Sunday, March 8, 2020, 2 to 4 PM – Craft Stick Bee
  • Monday, March 9, 4 to 6 PM – Pom-Pom Caterpillar
  • Tuesday, March 10, 4 to 6 PM  – Stained Glass Kite
  • Wednesday, March 11, 4 to 6 PM – Beaded Butterfly
  • Thursday, March 12, 4 to 6 PM – Friendship Bracelets
  • Friday, March 13, 4 to 6 PM – Clothespin Birds

LEGO Store Building Events

Become a LEGO VIP for free and then register and attend free model builds at the LEGO store in Opry Mills that you get to take home. These always fill up fast and you must reserve your spot in advance.

March 11 – Build. Unbuild. Rebuild. – Come to your local LEGO® Store between 4–7 PM to learn all you can do with our LEGO® sets! Build, Unbuild and Rebuild in a group setting with a Brick Specialist leading the way! Will your car turn in to a dog? A robot? A house? The possibilities are endless! All participants will receive a small gift for participating. Registration is required and begins March 6 in stores only. This event is intended for ages 6–14.

March 16 – Minifigure Swap – come swap Minifigures with other Lego fans. Open to kids ages 6 to 14. More details are available at the store. 

March 19 – How Do you DOT? – Visit us on March 19 to learn how to build a cool accessory for your DOTs bracelet! Use colorful tiles to make a pattern or watch face and make it your own! This event has limited space and registration is required. DOTs bracelet is not included and is for purchase separately. Visit your local LEGO® Store to sign up, starting March 6. This event is intended for ages 6–18.

Junior Chef Classes at Williams Sonoma

Register in advance at either the Cools Springs or Green Hills store. All classes are suitable for 8 to 13 year olds.

March 7, 10 AM – Harry Potter Cookie Party – bake and decorate Harry Potter Cookies. $30/child includes a Harry Potter cookie set

March 28, 10 AM – Peter Rabbit Cakelet Party – Bake some sweet treats for Easter. $40/child includes a Peter Rabbit Cakelet Pan.

Home Depot Kids Workshops

Join in the next monthly kids’ build at your local Home Depot. Be sure to register in advance!

The dates vary depending on your local store. In March, you can build a set of wooden binoculars. Click here to get all the details and sign up. 

YouthSparks Classes at the Microsoft Store

Learn to code, create digital art and more at the Microsoft Store in The Mall at Green Hills. There are free workshops and classes throughout March all for FREE! These include coding your own video game, creating 3D art in Paint 3D, and joining in some online gaming.

Classes at the Apple Store

The Apple store in Green Hills and Cool Springs also has free classes available over Spring Break. Kids can create their own emoji, make a movie trailer, and create code to control a robot.
