Ready for some fun on the lake? Then head out to Laguardo Recreation Area for fishing, swimming, boating, and more.
Laguardo Recreation Area is located in Lebanon, TN on Old Hickory Lake. This area is directly on Highway 109 so it’s not as idyllic as some of the other recreation areas in the Middle Tennessee area but if you live close it is still a great place for outdoor family fun.
When you enter Laguardo Recreation Area, you will first have to stop at the gate and pay the day usage fee. It is 5 dollars per car. 2 dollars for walk ins. If you visit these areas often, there is also the option to get a yearly pass. This pass will give you day use access to all the Corps of Engineers properties in Tennessee.
Once you have paid to enter, you will drive into the parking lot. The lot immediately to your left is for boats and trailers. The boat launch area and ramp is located here. The second lot is for day use parking. You can also continue further into the area if you want to park closer to the bathrooms or farther picnic sites.
In front of the main parking lot is a playground. There are slides, swing sets and benches. The playground is located right next to the beach. The beach is a long narrow sand area with a roped off section for swimming. Remember to wear aqua shoes or flip flops because the lake bottom can be iffy.
There is plenty of sand to build sandcastles or just sunbathe. There are over 30 separate picnic areas scattered throughout the area. Many of them are shaded by mature trees for shade and they each have their own grill.
There is a bathroom facility at Laguardo Recreation Area. It is a fairly long walk from the beach but it is passably clean and stocked. There are no changing stations.
There are three tiny homes for rent through Airbnb nearby.
