Flashlight Corn Maze in Murfreesboro, Tennessee

Nestled out in the country, on the outskirts of Murfreesboro, is the absolute best corn maze experience our family has had in a very long time!

The Farm at Route 8 has been in the same family since 1946. In that time it’s gone from being a working dairy farm to an event venue where they host everything from weddings to corporate events.

This year they’ve opened their farm up to the community for an awesome corn maze experience!

We started our fun with a quick stop at the food truck to warm up with some yummy hot chocolate and apple cider. If you’re hungry they have a variety of moderately priced eats, as well. Things like hamburgers, hot dogs, etc.

There’s a wonderful little outdoor seating area where you can take in all the sights of the farm while enjoying your goodies.

Be sure to check out this cool little building where the music is playing! Lots of neat stuff to see in there.

Once you grab your tickets you’ll be on your way to the corn maze! One thing not to be missed is the SKY! Be sure you take a few minutes to look up while you’re out there. If you go on a clear night, you’re sure to get a show…a STAR SHOW!

There’s just nothing quite like looking at the stars when out in a farm field at night. It’s amazing how many stars you can see with the naked eye compared to in the city or suburbs. Don’t miss it!

Before you get to the entrance of the big corn maze you’ll find a Toddler Maze! A perfect area for the little ones to play for a few minutes. Once you get to the main entrance of the big maze it’s time to turn on those flashlights or headlamps because it gets dark in there and you will definitely need them!

We chose to just use our smartphone flashlights and it worked out great, but if you have young kids you might want to grab some of those cheapie headlamps for them to wear.

There is a little “Haunted Woods” area of the maze that may worry some of you with younger kids, but I promise you it is nothing to be concerned about. In fact, it is completely avoidable by taking the path marked “Scaredy Cat Pass” which is clearly marked.

The Haunted Woods area is actually just a couple of animatronic props (similar to the props you would see set up at Home Depot or Lowes around this time of year), but there are no live actors or jump scares or anything at all like that.

Plan about 20-30 minutes in total to complete the maze. We honestly had so much fun going through – the time seemed to go by so fast! Before you leave, be sure to check out the pumpkins they have for sale! We hope you’ll enjoy your visit to The Farm at Route 8 as much as we did. Be sure to bundle up on those chilly nights!

Crystal was born and raised, and now raising a family of her own in Middle Tennessee. She currently lives in Murfreesboro with her husband Glenn, and their three children; Hunter, Grayson, and Hailey. They are an unschooling family, meaning they spend lots and lots of time out and about exploring all that this area has to offer!
