Family Fun in September

September is just a strange month, isn’t it? The kids have been ‘back to school’ for a month in our county. Fall Break is still another month away. The pools and splash pads are closing for the summer but it will still be warm enough to hit the lake for for a few more weeks (or months!)

As usual, our weather will be unpredictable. We may suffer in sweltering heat and humidity or start to feel the first welcome chill of fall. And who are we kidding? We’re likely to experience both of those!

Make saying goodbye to summer fun a little easier by investigating the opportunities that the fall season brings in Nashville. Whip up a Pumpkin Spice Latte and start making plans for September.

  • Spend the day enjoying Centennial Park.
  • If you have older kids or want a good date night idea, how about the Summer Shakespeare Festival ?
  • The weather is just about perfect for a trip to the drive-in. The Stardust Drive-In Theatre is open on weekends through early December. Don’t forget to pack some blankets to keep warm after the sun goes down.
  • Fall is prime festival season in Middle Tennessee.  If you love vendors, music and food, you can probably find a festival every weekend this month.

  • Get a jump on pumpkin season. Lucky Ladd Farms’ pumpkin patch opens on September 16.
  • How about a local high school football game?  Even if you don’t have a high school age child, this is a fun way to spend a Friday night. Cheer on your local team, have a yummy concession stand hamburger and connect with your community.
  • Consider a day trip to Chattanooga to visit the Tennessee State Aquarium.
