Our on-site tour of the park is recomended for park visitors interested in learning more about the park’s unique features and about Tennessee’s broad history.

Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park was created in 1996 to mark Tennessee’s two-hundredth year of statehood and memorialize the history, landscape, and people of the state. The park’s weekend tour highlights many of the park’s features and important dates in Tennessee’s history. The tour begins at the Visitors’ Center, on the corner of 6th Ave N. and Harrison St., underneath the train bridge. We will look at the park’s Map Plaza and River Fountains before heading into the park. The tour goes over each of our monuments and memorials, including the state World War II Memorial, as well as discussing some of the quotes along our expansive Pathway of History. A short break will be taken at the park’s bell carillon before the tour continues down the geography side of the park which highlights the nature and geology of Tennessee. The tour will conclude at the Visitors’ Center where the tour began.

Tours generally last around 60-75 minutes, and covers approximately 1 mile around the park on paved surfaces. Appropriate footwear for a one mile walk is recomended and waterbottles or other forms of hydration are encouraged. The tour will take place entirely outside and appropriate clothing, depnding on the season and temprature is recommended. Park restrooms are located across from the park’s Visitors’ Center, additional restrooms can be found along the tour at the Nashivlle Farmer’s Market, State Museum, and Tennessee State Library and Archives.

Tours will occur unless severe weather conditions are predicted. Individuals who are unable to attend a tour due to cancelation, or personal reasons, are welcome to sign up for one of the park’s other recurring weekend tours. If a park tour must be cancelled, you will be contacted via phone call on the number you provide during registration.
