Nashville Zoo animals are celebrating Valentine’s Day with special enrichment items on Saturday, Feb. 16.
“Valentine’s Day is a chance for our animals to receive new items and toys for enrichment, and for our keepers to have a little fun,” said Jac Menish, Curator of Behavioral Husbandry at Nashville Zoo. “Cardboard in the shape of candy kisses, purple and red paper hearts, and pink paper chains are just a few of the sweet items the animals will be enjoying during the day.”
Nashville Zoo uses daily enrichment to promote natural behaviors in the animals, ensuring optimal physical and mental health. Special days like Valentine’s Day allow keepers to offer fun, themed enrichment for the animals and the guests to enjoy.
Animals that guests can expect to see on exhibit during this time of year will receive their enrichment when they go on exhibit.
