It’s not only October, but also Friday the 13th. Yikes! Let’s celebrate the season with a slightly spooky (but family friendly) night hike around Couchville Lake. What are those screeching sounds coming from the lake? What about those glowing eyes in woods? Also, Couchy the Lake Monster: fact or fiction? 

In addition, we’ll search for bats and spiders and millipedes and owls, learn about the ghost tree and ghost leaves, see fruits that look like dolls eyes and mini pumpkins, and watch and listen for other creatures of the night. We’ll also hopefully enjoy great views of the night sky from the lake’s wooden bridge.

This is a flat, easy, two-mile paved trail. No pets, please. Feel free to bring a flashlight, although our goal is to adjust our eyes to the dark and walk much of the trail without light. Are you skeered yet?
