Have you ever wanted to display your very own bug collection? Entomologist, Dr. Steve Murphree will be leading this workshop on how to create your own insect boards to take home! Dr. Murphree will take us on a walk around the historic grounds, demonstrating how to collect insects for your boards. You will get to collect the insects that you pin! This beginner-friendly workshop combines a brief introduction to the world of insects with hands-on instruction on how to ethically and sustainably collect, pin, and preserve insects.
Family Nights at the Museum are a fun way we welcome some of our youngest guests into the museum setting for an interactive and shared learning experience with their whole family. We encourage intergenerational learning and believe that one is never too old to play or too young to learn. We aim to change the opinion that history museums are not places for children and families by welcoming families into a space to learn and experience the museum together while encouraging them to view local museums as a valuable resource. Admission for these special programs is $10 per person.
