It’s fall, y’all! We’re celebrating the changing of the season with a series of outdoor events throughout the month of October. Our Fall Into Science Festival will conclude with a Halloween-inspired birthday blowout on October 31st. We’re turning 75 on that very day after-all. There will be a variety of maker tents with hands-on learning fun, new live science shows, spoOoOky demonstrations, and more. We’ll have a costume contest on the 31st, so prepare to visit wearing your best fit!

Science of Magic – Check out a special live presentation with some exciting illusions explained! It’s not magic, it’s science!
Make Like A Tree – Investigate what gives leaves their beautiful fall colors as you make some marbled leaf art of your own.
Curious Collections: From bat skeletons and preserved insects to a truly cool tarantula molt, check out a selection of some of the spookiest specimens in our education collection.
Spooky Sound Effects : Explore the science of spooky sound effects and make some eerie noises with unexpected materials, including a unique instrument called a theremin.
Pumpkin Catapults: Design, build, and test a tabletop catapult meant to launch a tiny pumpkin all the way back to the pumpkin patch.
Bubbling Cauldrons: Conjure a crystal ball with the help of some bubbles and dry ice and reach into the cauldron to create some giant bubbles perfect for this outdoor fall celebration.
