August is a tough month in Middle Tennessee. For most of us, school starts very early this month. Combine the back to school blahs with the inevitable high temperatures of late summer and you’ve got the perfect recipe for some summertime blues. Ride out this ‘season of ugh’ by making some plans for family fun.
- Possibly we are biased because we live in Wilson County but….OUR FAIR IS THE BEST! Come out August 17-26 and ride some rides and eat something fried!
- There are plenty of other fairs in the midstate area. Visit one that’s new to you!
- Enjoy a double feature to end the summer at the Stardust Drive In in Watertown.
- Whether you are dreading the start of school or counting down the days, you can find lots of fun ideas on our Pinterest board.
- Get FREE admission to The Discovery Center at their annual Discover India Day on August 26.
- There’s still time to catch a Big Band Dance at Centennial Park. Wave if you see me there on August 26 – The Moonlighters are headlining and they’re my favorite!
- Spend the day at the Tomato Art Fest. Saturday August 12 is the date for this annual festival of fun in Nashville.
- Take a test drive on August 12 at Lane Motor Museum’s Fun Day.
- Lots of opportunities to cheer on our Boys of Summer at Nashville Sounds home games this month.
- Finish out the month with Summer Shakespeare. It kicks off on August 31.
